PREP Policy
Any player that exhibits signs, symptoms or behaviors consistent with a concussion (such as loss of consciousness, headache, dizziness, confusion or balance problems) shall be immediately removed from practice, game or PREP activity. The player shall not return to on-ice practice and games or participate in PREP activities until evaluated by and receiving written clearance to participate as no-contact or contact hockey from a licensed healthcare professional.
If a player receives an injury that requires medical attention or evaluation by a physician the player shall not return to on-ice practice and games or participate in PREP activities until written clearance to participate as no-contact or contact hockey from the attending physician is received. Written clearance provided to the team coach or hockey director will be on file with the PREP organization registrar.
Fall Refund Policy
Justification: PREP Hockey Club is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors which includes managing the activities, relationships and finances of the club. The costs to run the Club are largely fixed. For instance, the Club does not get a discount on fees for ice rental simply because players are not able to skate.
However, the Board desires to provide a reasonable refund if a player is injured as a result of Prep Hockey Club activities and cannot participate in Club activities for an extended period of time, while still maintaining the needed funds to cover all expected Club expenses for a given year.
As such, the Board is permitted to award a refund to the family of an injured player of up to 25% of the player fee paid for that year. This will only be available for the Fall Hockey Season.
A Fall Season Injury Refund Request may be submitted to the Board if the following conditions are satisfied by a player injury:
- The injury must have occurred during a Prep Hockey Club activity before December 31st
- The player must have been injured for at least 8 weeks
The Board will consider each request on a case-by-case basis and will determine an appropriate amount based on the circumstances related to each injury and their decision will be final.
